Main Players Jake Overstreet played by David Boyce After the disappearance of his mother, Jake's musical conquests have neither led him to acquire material assets nor to gain critical "success." He is suddenly forty years old and craves becoming a father - he wants a family. Jake tries to re-invent and strengthen his musical career while consumed by a vivid inner life. Sophia played by Taca Albarracin Sophia is an immigrant who'd been haphazardly managing Five's career for a few years. They've endured much self inflicted hardship and pain together. Sophia attempts to correct the mistakes of her past by trying to manage Jake Overstreet's career successfully. Five played by Keith Yansurak Five is neurotic, musically talented, and now very ill. Ironically, due to his illness, he is incapable of doing the one thing that has kept him going for all his years - performing live for an audience. Kamilah played by Rhodessa Jones Kamilah is the voice of Jake Overstreet's mother who vanished 10 years ago. Ruby played by Suk Wah Bernstein Ruby is a woman from Hong Kong. She is Jake's godmother, and an old friend of his mother Kamilah, who has been missing for several years. She is critical of Jake's life decisions and ambitions as an artist. Lilian played by Andrea Byers Lilian is Jake Overstreet's idealic love from the past. Jake has a few trysts with Lilian and tries to persuade her to make an unreasonable commitment. Ben Raffe played by Ari Caprow Mr. Raffe is a jazz critic who has an influence on Jake Overstreet's career. Mother and Son by Sara and Lorenzo Silvio They are two of the movie's more mysterious characters who visit Jake periodically. Extra Scenes Young Keith played by Keith Roule-Stewart Keith is a 15-year old aspiring musician. Disconnected from his family, Keith wanders the streets in search of clarity, and finds love. Star played by Nzinga Moore Having prematurely given up her classical voice training, Star compensates for this neglect through elaborate fantasy. Bo played by Thomas Battley Bo is Young Keith's father. A convoluted widower who desperately tries to impress his neglected son. |
